Welcome Back!

As many of you know it has been a long, challenging summer. We have spent the past 10 weeks working hard to rebuild a majority of the Ski Club building since the fire in early August. Chad Turner, from Turner Construction, has done an amazing job as our general contractor, and keeping everything moving forward. Our next big hurdle is to get our Certificate of Occupancy, and as soon as we have that we will know for sure our opening date. If all goes according to schedule, it will be the weekend before Thanksgiving.

That being said, it is likely there may be some finish work continuing on after we open, possibly through mid-December. We don’t expect this to impact the membership or your enjoyment of the club, but this has been a rather large project and in order to open our doors on time some of the smaller, punch list items may have to be completed after the start of the season.

Some changes you will notice when you first get here: the stairs will no longer be carpet, but a rubber product that will be more durable and hopefully deaden the sound of ski boots. The small lunch room has been totally reconfigured (this was the project we were finishing prior to the fire), and the Mount Snow offices have relocated down the hall to where the old Mount Snow Academy offices were and MSA has moved the majority of their Mount Snow-based operations/activities to the third floor. We have more tables and seating in the small lunch room and have installed a work station bar top with electrical and USB ports. We have purchased new furniture for the adult lounge and replaced the furniture in the teen lounge. Much of the club has new lighting - the improvement from this alone is amazing! We've also added a few new windows in both the small lunchroom and the tuning area on the ground floor. You will find LOTS of new cubbies in the small lunch room and I am hopeful this means boots bags will be kept off the floor! Keeping the floor, walk areas, and tables free and clear of bags, clothing, and gear is important to the enjoyment of the club for everyone.

For the 2nd year in a row we find our membership and club at capacity, and we have already closed registration for this year. While we are sorry to have to turn away new families and members (we are keeping a waiting list), it’s also fantastic to see our club and organization thriving. This also means certain times will be busy – especially during lunch hour – so please plan accordingly. I encourage anyone who can to eat outside of peak hours to do so…it will certainly make your lunch more enjoyable!

We want to thank our Technology Committee for all their hard work designing and launching our new registration site. We experienced only some minor glitches and will have those ironed out for the 2018/2019 registration cycle. Overall, the whole process is much easier and quicker! In addition, a new version of our web site will be launched shortly. Stay tuned for that.

To start the season, we will provide goodies from Sticky Fingers on Saturday, November 25th as well as a welcome back party that evening. Details to follow.

Here's to hoping for lots of snow and another great season.
